Session: Selling AI: the hype, the FOMO and the fear factor

Dr Mhairi Aitken is an Ethics Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for data science and AI, and a Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Wollongong in Australia. She has been recognized as one of the “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics” for 2023. Her research focusses on the social and ethical dimensions of AI. Mhairi is particularly interested in finding creative ways of engaging the public around AI, and exploring how public engagement can inform ethical data practices.
